Last couple of days have been interesting, to say the least. Tuesday, my second cousin Trapper came to the show, along with his little sister. The audience was full of kids who laughed and made comments in some pretty inappropriate places. Regardless, we got our NINTH standing ovation of the season
Last night was rained out, but not before we were placed on hold twice. Once after the regulator scene, and then once after the Mackenzie scene. For those of you who haven't seen the show, those are the first two scenes of the show. Midsummer continues to go wel as we head towards opening. However, Michael informed me the other night that if it gets rained out Friday afternoon, that it might be performed on Saturday night, in our slot (our being Nightmare's) . On the bright side, however, he did manage to secure a spot for us tomorrow to do a tech rehearsal. The only stipulation is that the drama camp kids have to watch it. Great. At least we have some decent rehearsal time. BY THE NUMBERS: Through July 18: Rainouts: 3 Rain Delays: 2 Rain Pace calls: 9 Standing Ovations: 9 Understudy Substitutions: 3 Monday, July 23, 2001
The weekend shows were pretty good, considering. It was Wilkes County weekend, meaning anyone from Wilkes County got in for half price, so we had some pretty good houses. I think the count was 560 Saturday night. We'll see if we get more during alumni weekend.
I had to fill in for Adam as Ferguson again last night. Managed to hit myself in the head with the sword during the battle. Then, as I exited, I almost forgot to retrieve Dr. Stuart's sword like I usually do. I dashed back to get it, but missed going on for curtain call as a result. It was alright though; Kathy got sick near the end of the show, anyway, so I didn't have anyone to go out with. Not that that would have mattered. We cleaned out the Powderhorn yesterday morning. It wasn't a complete cleanup, but we managed to get most of the heavy stuff done. Nightmare rehearsals continue to go well. Kathy and I are probably going to be performing something for Folk Night this Friday. My parents are up for the week. They'll be coming to see the show Friday night. I've asked David C. to let me sing "Wayfaring Stranger" that night. Hopefully, my health will hold up til I can sing it. |
